CNC Machining

Schmit Prototypes' CNC machining capabilities enable us to produce the finest, highly accurate visual design models, full-functioning engineering prototypes or master patterns. Fast turnaround and high accuracy on visual models can be achieved with a wide variety of materials including various density foams, epoxy tooling boards, production plastics and other composites. Using these materials during the concept stage of your prototype will allow your design team to closely simulate the final product appearance, and yet give the freedom to make changes.

Overview:

CNC (computerized numerical control) machining is a subtractive process in which parts are machined directly from 3D CAD files using various computer controlled tools and cutters. Our machinists use 3D files to program the CNC machines to remove material from a stock work piece. The machined part is then removed and finished/painted according to the project requirements.

CNC Machining Applications:

  • Master patterns
  • Visual models (working or static)
  • Engineering models
  • Oversized displays/props
  • Injection and quick turn tooling
  • And much more

CNC Delivery:

At Schmit Prototypes the average delivery time for CNC machining can vary greatly depending on workload and/or project requirements. Consult one of our project managers for more information on delivery timeframe.

Why CNC Machining?

  • CNC machines can be used 24 hours a day continuously, only being turned off for maintenance.
  • CNC machining allows for high accuracy and excellent surface finish and/or details.
  • There are some precision jobs that can only be accomplished by CNC machines.

Medical Equipment

Our cutting edge equipment and processes allow us to provide prototypes/production for several medical applications.

Medical Equipment

Urethane Casting

When multiple parts are needed, the RTV (room temperature vulcanized) tooling process can be used to fill the gap between prototype and production.

Injection Molding

When your production tooling wont be ready for months, injection molding is
a great way to receive parts quickly
and inexpensively.

Rapid Prototyping

We ultilize the latest rapid prototyping technologies to construct each model in the most cost-effective manner.

Quick Turn Tooling

We can build dedicated tools, tools to
fit into MUD units or inserts to be put
into our quick turn tooling system.
